Tripartite summit of China, Japan, ROK to be held in Beijing

Updated: 2009-09-24 19:40 BEIJING: Leaders from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will hold their second meeting in Beijing on October 10, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said here Thursday. Ahead of the summit, foreign ministers of the three countries will meet in Shanghai next Monday to discuss the current and future cooperation, regional and international issues, and pave the way for the leaders' summit, Jiang said.
"We expect the meeting to exchange views on charting the path for future cooperation and prepare for the leaders' summit," Jiang said, emphasizing the stronger trilateral relations and deeper East Asian cooperation. The first tripartite summit between China, Japan and the ROK was held in Fukuoka, Japan on December 13 of 2008. |
