Wanted thief meets cops on 'date', gets gang busted

Police officials in Xinjiang, Jiangxi province, busted a gang of juvenile thieves after one of the cops, in the garb of a girl, chatted online with a member of the outfit.

Since early this year, police had received several complaints of theft from villagers in Houtian township.

Police zeroed down on four suspects, aged 16 to 18 years, but were unable to find them.

An investigating officer dug out the chat ID of one of the suspects and started chatting with him online, pretending to be a single girl interested in a face-to-face meeting.

The suspect agreed to a date at a city restaurant, from where he was arrested, following which the other three members of the gang were also nabbed.
