CPC vows to crack down on 'ethnic separatist activities'

Updated: 2009-09-18 20:54 BEIJING: The Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday vowed to "effectively prevent and resolutely crack down on ethnicity-related separatist activities" as a key session of the CPC Central Committee closed Friday. According to a communique published upon the closing of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, the Party will also launch massive, in-depth and persistent educational campaigns on ethnic unity to this end.
"Under the new circumstances, we should continue to promote the progress of ethnic unity to ensure the country's long-term social stability and harmony," said the communique. In the communique, the CPC said it will comprehensively carry out its ethnic policies and the system of regional ethnic autonomy to promote the economic and social development in ethnic areas. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee was held from September 15 to 18 in Beijing. |
