International leather show opens in Shanghai

Updated: 2009-09-02 14:19 Shanghai: More exhibitors than expected have come to the international leather show which opened today in Shanghai even under the global recession. "The show has become a stimulus to the world's leather industry, enabling enterprises to know more the market,'' said Yang Li, a spokeswoman with the China Leather Industry Association.
Yang said purchasers from Southeast Asia, East Europe and other regions have been invited to the show, seeking the business opportunity. Leather insider said the show has offered a platform for the business talks between exhibitors and purchasers. The three-day event showcases various kinds of leather garments, suitcases, shoes and other ornaments in an area of 57,500 square meters. The association has organized domestic buyers chosen from the country's 1000 department stores to visit the show. Yang said due to the financial crisis, China has become a key market for foreign businesses, even Columbia, the Netherlands and Eritrea have sent delegations to the show. Many seminars on leather technology and new products will be held to promote the show. |
