China opens anti-corruption hot line

BEIJING: China's procuratorates opened a unitary 24-hour hotline -- (0086-10-)12309 for informants Sunday, on the eve of the 11th publicity week for seeking information from the public sponsored by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

The hotline will start on Monday, the first day of the week-long campaign to increase the awareness about ways and importance of giving tips to prosecutors to expose job-related crimes and corruption among government officials. The SPP will also open a new website, www.12309.gov.cn Monday for informants.
