A couple that got married on Aug 8, 2008, quickly realized that their marriage was destined to be a 100 m dash rather than a marathon.

The date of the Beijing Olympic Games was popular for weddings. But the woman from Heyuan, Guangdong province, concluded a week later they were not a right fit.

They met and began to date on May 18, 2008, and decided to tie the knot on the opening day of the Summer Games.

The wife applied for divorce a week after she realized she married the wrong man.

After more than 10 months of mediation, judges and people from the neighborhood committee failed to save the marriage.
