An album of 362 photos from 248 photographers to showcase China's development in the past 60 years has been unveiled in Beijing by the China Daily.
The book, entitled China 1949-2009, was published by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Publishing Corporation and sponsored Beijing Shengshixing Foundation. The book will become the first photo album commemorating the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, containing pictures featuring every single year in the past six decades and from photographers in every provincial region of China. "Sixty years are just a glimpse of history, but this glimpse means unimaginable changes in a great time and our album is just a witness of all these changes," said Zhu Ling, editor-in-chief of the China Daily, in the preface to the book. China 1949-2009 is the fifth album of the 100 Photographers' focus series that China Daily has published since 2003, with the previous albums focusing on fighting SARS in 2003, fighting snowstorms, the Wenchuan earthquake rescue and reconstruction, and preparations for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. |
