Mainland reports 13th A(H1N1) flu case

GUANGZHOU -- South China's Guangdong Province Wednesday reported its second influenza A(H1N1) case, bringing to 13 the total of confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland.

A 62-year-old ethnic Chinese American was tested positive for A(H1N1) Wednesday by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the Guangdong Provincial Health Bureau said.

The patient's temperature has fallen to normal and all 23 people who had close contact with him have been quarantined.

The US citizen arrived in Hong Kong on May 17 on Cathay Pacific flight CX 879 from San Francisco. He took a bus to Taishan, Jiangmen in Guangdong Province, on May 18.

He developed a fever on May 20 and saw a doctor on May 22. The next day, he went to the People's Hospital in the city of Taishan, where he was tested positive for A/H1N1 flu.
