SAN JOSE -- China will offer financial and technical assistance to Costa Rica on the construction of a modern science and business center, the Costa Rican government said on Wednesday.

The science center is expected to focus studies on biotechnology, megatronic, info-communication technologies and nanotechnology. The project will have an investment of some $65 million, the government said.

Initiative plans envision cooperation between science and technology sectors from both countries. Wang Xiaoyuan, the Chinese ambassador to Costa Rica, has confirmed the project.

The science center will be located near the Technological Institute of Costa Rica, the National University, the University of Costa Rica, and the State University at Distance.
