QINGDAO - Japan and China held a communication drill for maritime salvage operations Tuesday.

The Shandong Provincial Maritime Affairs Bureau said the Shandong Provincial Center of Salvage at Sea and the Kagoshima salvage center of Japan's Maritime Safety Agency took part in the exercise.

The drill involved a hypothetical shipwreck at an unspecified site. The language used was English, said the Shandong bureau.

The two-hour drill was the second of its kind. The first involved the Shandong center and the Nagoya maritime center in Japan.
