Hong Kong official to visit France

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Rita Lau will visit France on March 4 to 7 to learn about leading establishments in the creative and technology application sectors, a government release said Tuesday.

According to a press release from the Information Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, Lau will visit Paris and Lille, one of the more creative regional metropolitan areas in France. She will speak with policy makers, design house and museum directors, architects, manufacturers renowned for innovation and technological advancement, and leaders in creative industry education.

France is the 2009 partner country for Hong Kong's Business of Design Week, one of the most significant annual events on the international design calendar.

Lau will meet the French minister of state responsible for foreign trade and creative industries Anne-Marie Idrac. She will also attend a dinner hosted by the Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment Christine Lagarde and call on the Chinese Ambassador to France Kong Quan.
