Macao delegation to join int'l fair in SW China

MACAO -- A delegation of entrepreneurs from Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will participate in the 12th China Chongqing International Investment and Global Sourcing Fair in May, the SAR's Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) announced on Thursday.

The fair, held in China's southwestern municipality Chongqing from May 13 to 16, is co-sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Chongqing municipal government. It is one of the biggest investment promotion event in the country.

The IPIM said in a press release that it will establish a Macao pavilion in the fair where local enterprises can exhibit their products and seek business opportunities on a broader level.

According to the statistics from the organizer of the fair, a total of 567 transnational companies from 36 nations and regions and 6,800 Chinese enterprises participated in the 11th commercial fair in 2007, which had an overall exhibition area of 35,000 square meters.
