Patient sues after nurse drops AIDS needle on foot
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-02-16 09:00 A man is suing Ditan Hospital in Beijing after he was accidentally stabbed with a syringe that had earlier been used to take blood from a patient with AIDS. Chen, 29, has demanded 128,500 yuan ($18,800) in compensation after the nurse dropped the needle on his foot on March 17 last year. But a court in Chaoyang district hearing the case on Tuesday was told by witness Xi, on behalf of the hospital, that they had refused to pay up as Chen had since been tested five times for HIV, each being negative. The case will be heard again, with more evidence produced by both parties at another date. (Beijing Youth Daily) |
