11th NPC Standing Committee holds 1st meeting

BEIJING -- The newly-elected chairman and vice-chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) held their first meeting here on Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting decided to convene the first meeting of the 11th NPC Standing Committee on Wednesday.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

Wednesday's meeting will appoint deputy secretaries-general of the NPC Standing Committee, and Wu will speak at the meeting.

Li Jianguo, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the NPC Standing Committee, reported to Tuesday's meeting on the agenda, schedule and other matters related to personnel appointments for Wednesday's meeting.

All vice-chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee -- including Wang Zhaoguo, Lu Yongxiang, Uyunqimg, Han Qide, Hua Jianmin, Chen Zhili, Zhou Tienong, Li Jianguo, Ismail Tiliwaldi, Jiang Shusheng, Chen Changzhi, Yan Junqi and Sang Guowei -- attended Tuesday's meeting.
