This pavilion, situated atop the eastern city gate of Guiyang, was built in 1609 and has undergone repeated reconstruction and repairs in the intervening years. Wenchang Pavilion is a three-storey building under a three-eave roof with nine irregular edges, a specidal structure that is typical of the local architectural style. It is under provinceal protection as a cultural heritage.
