Finally, the greatest day in China's modern history has arrived.

To the people of China, the city of Beijing and the BOCOG as well as to all sportsmen, -women and vistors I wish Good Luck. Expectations are sky high. Let's just enjoy the games.

I believe that this is the coming of age day for modern China. As far as the Beijing Olympics, the preparation etc, are concerned, China has proven to the world that it is capable of doing great things.

I wish China and the Chinese people all the best during the Olympics, hope it surpasses expectations and the party can be enjoyed as a party.

Naughty me will be watching online instead of working but such a global event only comes once every 4 years and quite frankly, it's a Friday..

Good luck China! The drinks are on you! Woohoo!

People throw parties to celebrate, and China does have a lot to celebrate. It will be a colorful and joyous event. But it is still just a party. The Olympics is not a goal or achievement by itself.

The Chinese have worked very hard in the last quarter century, doing the work and enduring the challenges of 3 or 4 generation in one. It is time to live it up and enjoy the party. Yes, we invited friends from all over the world.

Once again, Good Luck to China!!!!!

China and ALL the Chinese people should be proud of its success and take pride in it's achievements. All Chinese people must understand one another and stand shoulder to shoulder as bothers and sisters in order to achieve success and one proud nation!

To be Chinese is to be Glorious and Victorious!

My whole family will be sitting in the lounge room, eyes glued to the TV set, for the Opening Ceremony to-night. I, for one, will be shouting for joy, for China's coming out party. It is something every Chinese has been waiting for so long. I know I am going to get a little misty in my eyes too.

Greetings to the People of China!

I am from the Unites States and I would like to congratulate your country for hosting the 2008 Olympics, and I share in your personal joy. It is my feverish wish that the games go well and that we all remember the most important thing is not how many medals are won by whom, but by the spirit of/in which the games were played. As in the old days of Greece, the Games were used to establish and foster good relationships among the neighboring powers. So in that spirit I hope that relations between our two countries continue to improve (in spite of inter-governmental differences) for in my heart I truly believe that most American people really like the Chinese people, and I think the Chinese people feel the same way.

Let the Games begin!
