"Tibetan army" refered to the armed forces of the local government of old Tibet. Its highest commanding unit was called dMag-spyi-Ias-khungs and the commander in chief was named dMag-spyi. This degenerate army often vioIated military disciplines, extorted money and committed all sorts of crimes. Therefore, the masses generally called natural d isasters, pestilences and this army "Three Calamities". Above picture was Tibetan troops drilled by the British.
