Tianjin and Chicago have a lot in common and large potentials for mutual complementation, Tianjin Vice-Mayor Ren Xuefeng said.
Chicago accumulated rich experiences through the transformation from a heavy industrial center to a modern service hub, and the city has done a good job in environment protection. Therefore, the city has a lot to share with Tianjin, John C. Thomson, chief representative of the Chicago China Office, said.
After the signing of the agreement, the two cities will start specific co-operation in areas such as financing, trade, environmental protection and education, according to Thomson.
