HAVANA-- Raul Castro, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, met Wednesday with visiting senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wang Zhaoguo and discussed ties between the two parties.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, extended a message from Hu Jintao, the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President, to Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who is the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Terming Cuba as China's good partner, good comrade and good brother, Hu said in his message the CPC and the Chinese government unswervingly uphold the policy of continuously consolidating and developing China-Cuba friendly cooperation and relations.

China's new central collective leadership, attaching great importance to and cherishing the traditional Sino-Cuban friendship, is willing to join hands with Cuba in realizing the consensus reached between the two sides, continuously deepening friendly cooperative ties and better serving the interests of the two peoples, Hu also said in the message.

Wang, also vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, said the CPC led by Hu would like to comprehensively consolidate and develop ties with its Cuban counterpart.

Speaking highly of the recently-concluded 17th National Congress of the CPC, Raul Castro expressed his hope that the Chinese people, under the CPC's leadership, will soon realize the goals set at the congress.

Raul said the development of China-Cuba ties results from the concerted efforts by both sides. Cuba is ready to cooperate with China in promoting relations between the two parties and the two countries, he said.

Wang kicked off his three-day Cuba tour on Monday.
