China appoints new commissar to Macao garrison

MACAO - Major General Zhao Chunsheng has been appointed as the new commissar to the Macao garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), according to an official press release issued here on Wednesday.

The release from the PLA Macao garrison said the former commissar Major General Li Wenchao will be assigned to a new post.

Li Wenchao has expressed his gratitude to Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), and his government for the support and the assistance to his job, according to the press release.

He wishes the Macao people would have a more prosperous and stable future, said the release.

Zhao Chunsheng was quoted by the release as saying that the PLA Macao unit will keep on dedicating its efforts to help maintain Macao's social stability and its development, based on the Basic Law and the Garrison Law of the MSAR.
