Goran Petersson, chairman of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), speaks high of Qingdao International Regatta at a news conference on Friday.

Petersson told the media: "There are two things that have really caught my eye here in Qingdao. First of all, this is the best venue I have ever seen for an Olympic sailing event. In addition, there is a great deal of cooperation between all venue personnel."

Petersson said that he thought the 2007 Qingdao Sailing Regatta and 2008 Olympic Sailing Regatta will play a large role in helping develop the sport in Asia.

"I believe Qingdao is a key city in developing sailing in Asia", said Petersson, "I am sure of that, even after the Olympics, Qingdao will become a prominent sailing center that hosts many international events."

Petersoon has been supervising the operation of the regatta, and he is quite satisfied with the work done by Qingdao.

"Holding these test events helps us take care of problems before it is too late", he said, "I can say for certain right now that Qingdao is in a very good state."

"And by next year, everything here will be first-class and meet Olympic standards. We are all working together to perfect the system, and I am looking forward to coming back next year." he added.

Qingdao International Regatta is the second test event for 2008 Olympic Sailing event. It runs from August 9 to 24 and features 11 events of 9 classes.
