HONG KONG -- Hong Kong will hold a unique football fiesta on July 1 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its return to China.

The fiesta is organized by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in conjunction with the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA), the HKFA announced here on Tuesday.

According to the HKFA, the curtain-raiser of the day, the match between the Hong Kong All Stars team and the China All Star team, will start at 12:30 p.m. This will be followed by a second match that will pit 21-time German Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich against the might of four-time Brazilian League Champions Sao Paulo.

The featured match of the day the China National Team versus a FIFA World Stars will bring the day's festivities to a climax.

"When you watch the matches unravel right before your eyes, you will appreciate the enormous efforts that have been put together by the Government, the Hong Kong Football Association and the sponsor, in bringing in so many players and teams from all across the world to Hong Kong for the day's event. That is a remarkable achievement and something that is hard to repeat," said Timothy Fok, President of HKFA.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank FIFA too, for their support in gathering this bevy of stars for our Anniversary Celebrations in a relatively short period of time. FIFA's efforts are gratefully recognised," Fok added.

The HKSAR's 10th Anniversary celebrations calendar runs from April through to December with over 460 events organized by both the government and non-government organizations to mark this important and memorable occasion.
