Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd. (Chalco) and its unit Baotou Aluminium said their shares will be suspended from trading starting on Tuesday pending important company announcements.

"As our company will have important information to disclose, we have applied to the Shanghai Stock Exchange to suspend trading in our shares from June 12," Chalco said in a statement published on the exchange's Web site (www.sse.com.cn).

Baotou Aluminium published a similar statement, although neither gave details of the pending announcements.

State media said Chalco might restructure or buy out Baotou Aluminium, after it bought out and delisted two of its other units, smelter Lanzhou Aluminium and alumina maker Shandong Aluminium Industry, earlier this year.

It was not immediately clear whether Chalco's shares listed in Hong Kong would also be suspended from trading.
