Angola, China discuss cooperation in various fields(Xinhua)Updated: 2007-06-09 04:58 Angolan Prime Minister Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos in Luanda on Friday afternoon discussed with a Chinese delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on further expanding two-way cooperation in various fields. The Chinese delegation which arrived here on Thursday afternoon for a three-day visit at the invitation of the ruling Popular Movement for Liberation of Angola (MPLA) is headed by Zhang Dejiang, politburo member of CPC Central Committee, and comprises another 15 members. Zhang, who is also secretary of the CPC committee of Guangdong Province, said he discussed concrete aspects with the Angolan prime minister "on how to deepen existing strategic partnership with China with a view to guaranteeing the full development of Angola." Zhang told his Angolan friends that the CPC is "a traditional friend of MPLA." He said negotiations are in progress for the increment of financing to the development of Angola in various fields and a major involvement of Chinese firms in the construction and repair of infrastructures which were seriously destroyed during the 27- year civil war that left one million people dead and four million others displaced. He added that it is important that the CPC and MPLA stimulate the strengthening of economic relations and trade to benefit the peoples of both countries. Angola is currently benefiting from China's credits that are being used in the construction and rehabilitation of basic infrastructures that include railways, roads, bridges and projects in the domains of education, health and others of the national affairs. |
