GUIYANG -- Continuous hailstorms and strong winds have battered southwest China's Guizhou Province since Sunday, killing three people, injured 200 and affecting the lives of more than one million people.

Crops in 48,000 hectares of farmland have been destroyed, 830 houses have been wrecked and more than 25,000 people have been evacuated, the local civil affairs bureau reported on Wednesday.

The disaster has cost the province a total of 128 million yuan (about 17 million U.S. dollars), of which 124 million yuan are agricultural losses.

In southern China's Guangdong Province, landslides triggered by heavy rain on Monday and Tuesday have killed four people and caused the evacuation of more than 20,000 people.
