Fleeing in desperation, two car thieves drove a stolen van in the wrong direction on an overpass after midnight on Thursday in Hong Kong.

The van hit a taxi, collided with a pursuing police car and overturned, slamming into a railing.

One of the thieves then climbed out, jumped off the two-story overpass and escaped, though the other thief was injured and later arrested.

Police discovered the stolen van using global positioning satellite technology.

With pursuers behind and roadblocks ahead, the thieves drove in the wrong direction.

Four officers were injured in the incident.
