An 80-year-old woman and her granddaughter have touched the hearts of people in Puyang, Henan.

Zhang Meishu, who became blind because of cataracts two years ago, has been caring for her paralyzed granddaughter, Wang Xiuli, for more than 12 years.

Moved by Zhang's deeds, local residents have volunteered to launch a fundraiser for her so that she can have her cataracts removed.

Wang, who has been paralyzed since grade four of primary school, teaches herself at home and has recently copied more than 100,000 characters from various literary works.
