An expat woman cried tears of relief when she was acquitted last Wednesday of an assault charge related to an incident over the use of a toilet.

Estrella Hazim Angelina, 26, had appealed a six-month jail term issued by a Hong Kong court for injuring a flight attendant.

According to Angelina's lawyer, she was in the toilet of a bar in Lan Kwai Fong, talking on her cellphone with her husband. The flight attendant, growing impatient outside, knocked on the door. Angelina opened the door and asked her to wait longer, and a shouting match began, during which Angelina slammed the door on the flight attendant's hand.

The court agreed the injury was unintentional.
