Guinea-Bissau president arrives in Beijing

BEIJING - President of Guinea-Bissau Joao Bernardo Vieira arrived here Tuesday afternoon, continuing his state visit to China.

While in Beijing, Vieira will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao and meet with top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao respectively.

The president will also attend the Beijing Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation scheduled for Nov. 4 to 5.

Being optimistic of China-Africa cooperation, Vieira told Xinhua prior to his China tour that the upcoming summit in Beijing would inject renewed vitality into the existing relations of cooperation between China and Africa.

Before arriving here, Vierira has visited Shanghai and Nanjing, capital city in east Jiangsu province of China.

Guinea-Bissau is the first country in the world to carry out cooperation in deep-sea fishing with China. Bilateral trade was 5.79 million US dollars in 2005.
