S. China autonomous region posts double-digit economic growth

NANNING -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region gross domestic product (GDP) reached 306.6 billion yuan (38.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the first three quarters of this year, a year-on-year growth of 13.1 percent.

According to the regional bureau of statistics, the growth was 1.1 percentage points higher than the year-earlier level.

The manufacturing and construction sector contributed 53.9 percent to the region's GDP, while the service sector made up 37.8 percent, the bureau said.

The region's foreign trade amounted to 4.72 billion US dollars from January to September, up 25.4 percent year-on-year. The total included 690 million U.S. dollars in exports to ASEAN members, up 21.8 percent, the bureau added.

Over the nine-month period, disposable income in urban area averaged 7,486.9 yuan (948 U.S. dollars) per-capita in the region, up 10 percent, while per-capita cash income was up 12.3 percent to 2,323.8 yuan (294 U.S. dollars) for residents in rural areas.
