Yellow River turns red in Lanzhou

Upon arrival at the riverside, a
staff worker with local environment protection bureau takes samples
of the polluted river water for laboratory testing at the Lanzhou
section of the Yellow River in downtown Lanzhou, capital city of Northwest
China's Gansu Province, October 22, 2006. A sewerage pipeline released red
sullage to the river and the cause of the pollution is under
investigation, local media reported.
