Centenarian repaid for contributions

Chen Ju, a 100-year-old woman who has lived in a residential area of Xi'an of Shaanxi Province for half a decade, has been given 150 yuan (US$18.9) per month as a health care allowance for her outstanding work in the local community.

Chen worked as head of the community's neighbourhood committee for many years, during which she helped residents greatly and cooked lunch for pupils while their parents were at work.
