Family twice mistakes turtle for burglar
(China Daily)
Updated: 2006-09-26 14:20 Suspecting that a thief had broken into their home, a mother and daughter in Nanjing alerted guards twice last Thursday, but later found that the culprit was actually a soft-shelled turtle. Li and her 9-year-old daughter were awakened at midnight by a noise sounding like someone zipping a purse in the sitting room. Suspecting a burglar, Li alerted guards in the quarter. Minutes later, a dozen guards entered but discovered nobody else in the room after searching for half an hour. Minutes later, Li called saying that she heard the noise again, but guards again failed to find the thief. At last Li found it was the turtle the family raised on balcony that crawled into the sitting room making the noise. Contemporary Express |
