BEIJING -- China vowed to further its cooperation on telecommunications with Spain as the information industry firms of the two countries enjoy a great potential for mutually-beneficial development.

China supports the establishment of strategic partnership between Chinese and overseas telecom enterprises in a bid to jointly explore the international market, said Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan.

"China hopes the Telefonica could deepen its cooperation with Chinese cooperative partners to realize common development," said Zeng on Thursday in meeting with Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete, a member of the executive committee of Telefonia.

Telefonica is a diversified telecom group that provides a range of services mainly in Spain and 13 Latin American countries.

The Chinese government highly values the development of information industry, said Zeng, adding that the Telefonica is a world-renowned telecom company while the Chinese telecom companies are competitive in equipment, technology, quality and price.
