China will introduce further macroeconomic controls for the real estate market and strive to improve housing conditions for low-income earners.

The Ministry of Construction said on Saturday that it will shift its focus to the construction of medium and small size houses to meet common demand.

It will also work to resolve the housing problems faced by low-income urban families.

The Ministry called for a nationwide system of low-cost public housing, as well as greater coordination between home demolition and construction of new buildings.

The Ministry said the supply of ordinary housing in China is still inadequate, though earlier government controls have proved effective at curbing speculation on the property market.
