Brand-building activity in Anhui begins

The Chinese Brand Promotion tour has come to Hefei, capital of east China's Anhui Province on August 2, 2006.

The tour, aimed at further promoting the brand name notion among enterprises and the public, is warmly welcomed by the local government and resident.

Zhang Danning, deputy director of Bureau of Commerce of Anhui Province, delivered a speech greeting officials from China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), organizer of the activity, and more than 30 reporters.

Zhang said the tour has facilitated the competitive brand creation in central China.

"Central China's trade volume will be further boosted if the areas could cultivate more brands that are known home and abroad," Zhang said.

So far Anhui has built up nine pillar industries, like automobile, iron and steel, leather, electrical appliance, tobacco and alcohol.

Driven by these local economic engines, Anhui has fostered about 50 famous brand names and products, like Cherry automobile, that has grown up into a national brand name enterprise.

Zhang said automobile industry features largely in Anhui's economy and is also the focus of the brand-promotion tour in Anhui.

The Chinese Brand Promotion tour till now has covered nine provinces and 28 cites since it was launched by MOFCOM on June 11, 2006.
