China's revenue leaps in first five months

China chalked up 1.66 trillion yuan (US$ 207.5 billion) in fiscal revenue in the first five months of the year, up 22.8 percent from the same period last year.

The January-May income accounted for 46.9 percent of the annual budget, the Ministry of Finance said in a report.

Central coffers collected 922.6 billion yuan, while local government revenue reached 740.5 billion yuan.

Nationwide government spending also rose 16.7 percent to 1.12 trillion yuan through May, the report said.
