A national museum featuring mainland-Taiwan ties opened Saturday at Quanzhou
city in the southern province of Fujian.
The museum, named Min-Tai Lot (Fujian and Taiwan's inseparable relations),
costs 180 million yuan (22.5 million US dollars) and has nearly 15,000 cultural
relics and documents in its collection. They reveal the historical relations
between families, culture, customs, trade and religion across the Taiwan
Straits.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's
Political Consultative Conference, sent a congratulatory telegram to the museum,
saying that it plays a significant role in tightening the connection between the
mainland and Taiwan.
