HONG KONG -- At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hong Kong Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Stephen Lam, will lead a delegation to visit the Chinese mainland from May 21 to 25, according to a government press release on Sunday.

While in Beijing, Lam will meet officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and other relevant departments of the central authorities.

A spokesman for Hong Kong Constitutional Affairs Bureau said on Sunday that the visit would be conducted under the established arrangement of reciprocal visits between the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The delegation will depart from Hong Kong Sunday evening and return to Hong Kong next Thursday.

Since 1999, officials from the HKSAR government and those from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been conducting reciprocal visits once a year to enhance communication and mutual understanding, the spokesman added.
