Entrusted by the CPC Central Committee, Deng Xiaoping describes the "four fundamental principles" of modern China: to maintain Socialist doctrine, uphold the dictatorship of the proletariat, uphold the leadership of the Communist Party and uphold the Thought of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong.

March 30, 1998: The CPC Central Committee orders all localities and government departments to enact the "Working Ordinances of the CPC and the Grassroots Organizations of the State Organs"
