Canadian pop-punk icon Avril Lavigne has opened an account with China's microblogging service provider Sina Weibo.
The singer-songwriter, whose Weibo page has attracted nearly 66,000 fans, has updated two threads so far.
Lavigne's very first post was a hello message written in both English and Chinese. "Ni Hao my Chinese fans," she wrote, explaining she got someone else to translate her words into Chinese.
Lavigne has been to China several times and performed in Beijing on Valentine's Day this year.
