Mariah Carey to receive BET honor
Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder will be honoured at the BET Awards next month.
The 'Dreamlover' hitmaker has been named Best Entertainer for her contribution to African-American culture, while the legendary 'Superstition' singer has been recognised in the musical arts category.
Other stars who will pick up awards at the ceremony - which will take place at the Warner Theatre in Washington D.C. on January 14 - including director Spike Lee for his contribution to film, and poet Maya Angelou.
Actress Gabrielle Union will be hosting the black-tie event.
It is the second time Mariah - who gave birth to twins Moroccan and Monroe in April - has won an award in the last week.
The singer-and-actress was awarded a humanitarian prize in recognition of her charitable efforts with disadvantaged children at the Noble Gift Gala in London, with the accolade presented to her by Prince Azim and Eva Longoria.
Among the honourees at last year's BET Awards were Whitney Houston, music mogul P. Diddy and singer-and-actress Queen Latifah.
