Britney's comeback might be a tough act for record label to sell

Updated: 2007-01-22 16:45

New York : Britney Spears is eagerly looking forward to having her comeback album hit the charts in November this year, but it seems that what her label Jive Records is really worried about, is how they're going to get people to buy her album if her partying ways continue.

Britney was supposed to be working on her comeback album throughout November and December last year, as well as this month.

However, work has stalled ever since the singer hit partying mode after splitting up from her husband of two years Kevin Federline in the beginning of November last year.

A music industry source revealed that Spears' label were not keen to move quickly in getting her album out to her fans, for they are wary of the way the singer has alienated her fan base with her wild partying.

"Right now, she is trying to lay down some tracks, but no one is keen to move very quickly because there is the issue of how to market the album," the New York Post quoted the source, as saying.

Things are apparently so bad, that Jive hasn't even picked backers for the album as yet.

"Jive hasn't even picked producers for the album," the source added.

And what has Britney's reps especially worried, is that the singer seems to be in no hurry to "clean up her act", something she really needs to do to win her fans back.

"If she doesn't clean up her act - and soon - it is going to be a problem. The public has grown really tired of her antics and despite her and [manager Larry Rudolph] promising she would change, she hasn't. She has lost her core fan base of teen girls," the source revealed.

However, a rep for Spears insisted via an email to the paper that the album would be hitting stores by the second half of the year, and that the label was "not worried" about marketing it.

"We are anticipating an album release second half of 2007. Jive is not worried about marketing the album, in fact we are looking forward to the release. We don't comment on our artists' personal lives," the rep wrote in the email. (ANI)
