Paris Hilton's pop career flounders

Paris Hilton's career as a pop star is already floundering, according to a US report.

The New York Post said her debut album, Paris, only sold 75,000 copies in the US in its first week, with the projected figure for next week just 30,000.

The hotel heiress's first single, Stars Are Blind, is languishing at number 49 in the US Billboard Hot 100, and limped in at number 29 in the UK.

Another problem is that she will not be touring to promote the album because she cannot sing live, the Post said.

But Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said that to him the album "sounds huge".

"For a newcomer, this is incredibly impressive," he told the newspaper.
