GAC Fiat Chrysler to recall 68,699 vehicles over gear box problems

BEIJING - GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Co will recall 68,699 Viaggio in China due to gear box problems, according to the country's top quality watchdog Friday.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between Aug 26, 2012 and Oct 14, 2014, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision,Inspection and Quarantine.

Chips in the gear boxes may not work properly due to a defective mounting-bracket design and will cause safety problems, according to the watchdog.

The company will replace the parts free of charge and the recall will start from March 10, 2017.
