The Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences planned to build into a national-level scientific research organization in five years, according to an agreement signed between the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen Municipal Government and the Hong Kong University of Chinese (HKUC) on Nov 16.
The institute planned to make income of more than 2 billion yuan a year from researches with 3000 staff members and six research departments.
It will also incubate 100 high technology companies, in which 5 to 10 will list on the stock market, and serve more than 500 companies.
The institute will mainly serve the new industry, particularly in biological medicine and biology technology, precision machine and new materials and new energy areas, in Shenzhen and other areas in Pearl River Delta.
Centered in Shenzhen, industrialization of its technological achievements will be promoted countrywide.
Since the opening of the Yucheng Center in Shekou, Nanshan district, in August, the institute has signed cooperation agreements with Longgang District and Guangming New Zone and the two districts will offer preferential policy for the development of the institute.

The institute will also jointly work with the HKUC to promote cooperation projects between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the next five years.
The two also planned to train more postgraduates together and share their high-level lecture and library resources together. Jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Science and Shenzhen Municipal Government in 2006, the institute is aiming to become a first-class industry research institute, talent development place and enterprises incubator.
