WWE names new regional head, eyes further expansion in China

World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE) added a new member to its Greater China executive roster on Monday.

Jay Li, former general manager at Skullcandy Inc China, was appointed vice-president and general manager of WWE China.

Li will report directly to Ed Wells, WWE International's executive vice-president.

Gerrit Meier, president of WWE International said, "China is strategically important for the WWE and we are confident that Jay will help successfully develop our brand and business in the market."

"We remain committed to expanding the WWE internationally, and our presence in China is critical to the company's future growth."

According to the statement of the company, this is a newly created role. Li will lead WWE's strategic business development initiatives and day-to-day operations in China and work in conjunction with local government authorities and partners to promote all of WWE's lines of the business.

The WWE is an integrated media organization and one of the recognized players in global entertainment. The company's business portfolio features creating and delivering original content 52 weeks a year to a global audience.

WWE programming reaches more than 650 million homes worldwide in 25 languages.
