Copyright transfer a major step forward for China's music industry

QQMusic has reached an agreement with Netease Cloud Music to sublicense the copyright of 1.5 million songs.

The deal marks China's first copyright transfer case and creates a significant opening up of the whole music market.

QQMusic told media that both sides will establish a new platform for legalization of China's music market.

Globally, the copyrighting of music is of great importance but the area has been neglected in China and disputes over music copyright regularly occur.

The government earlier ordered internet music service providers to stop distributing music without copyright transfer.

The agreement will promote copyright transfers among music service providers and copyright management will be better regulated.
