Pu'er city of Southwest China's Yunnan province, aims to further develop its plateau agriculture, said Wei Xing, municipal party secretary of Pu'er city, at an agricultural products forum held in Beijing on Sep 19.

The city will build unique brands based on special resources, and stick to the strategy of regional layout and three-dimensional development in order to achieve this goal, according to Wei.

As the coffee trading center in Yunnan province, Pu'er city has the largest surface area of coffee plantations and is also the coffee production area with the highest yield in China.

In 2014, the production value generated from agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in Pu'er city totaled 23.46 billion yuan, with an increase of 14 billion yuan compared with a year earlier.

In mountainous areas, in order to ensure ecological security, Pu'er city will make great efforts to develop the under-forest planting industry, gathering industry and breeding industry. In river valley areas, commercial crops such as tea leaf, coffee, flue-cured tobacco and rubber will take priority.
