Chinese companies in Germany recruit local talents to expand business

BERLIN - To engage competent local employees has become one of main challenges for Chinese companies expanding business in Germany, said Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Germany (CHKD) on Tuesday, announcing that a recruitment fair would be held next month in a bid to search local talent for Chinese enterprises.

Currently, around 2000 Chinese enterprises are doing business in Germany, most of them are at an expansion stage of their overseas business, said Duan Wei, the Executive Director of CHKD.

These enterprises need a huge number of first-rate local talents in areas such as enterprise management, technology research and development, product design, marketing and sales, Duan said.

A survey by CHKD last year showed that despite a high labour cost, Chinese companies were willing to hire German employees due to their desire to get better involved into local business environment and market.

A large number of new jobs were created by Chinese companies, Duan said, adding that CHKD would organize a recruitment fair on June 19 in Frankfurt together with the city's commerce chamber and investment promotion agency. Hundreds of jobs in management, design, R&D, marketing and many other sectors would be presented by at least 20 Chinese enterprises.

Recent data suggested that more and more Chinese companies chose Germany as their investment destination. Besides expanding their own business, these companies also made a contribution to local economy and labour market.

A report from Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI), Germany's official investment promotion agency, last month showed that China became the biggest investing country in Germany in 2014 with a record number of investment projects.

Last year alone, Chinese companies invested more than 200 million euros (about $224.7 million) in Germany and created over 1700 new jobs.
